My name is Annalee Higginbottom and I am the Head of Educational Technology at the Atlanta International School. Since joining the school in 2010, I have been fortunate enough to work with students, faculty and staff across the school.
My professional passion lies in helping everyone to achieve their full potential by supporting and inspiring them on their learning journey. Be they student or veteran teacher, I enjoy creating environments where learners can and do take risks and get out of their comfort zone. As a specialist in the field of technology, I know how difficult that can be, building strong relationships, providing honest, constructive feedback and partnering with colleagues have helped me to build the trust and confidence needed to bring about change. |
I am proud of the three years I spent serving as a Head of Year in the Middle School. Working closely with a dedicated advisory team and wonderful counsellors, we developed a pastoral care program that strove to meet the socio- emotional needs of students. I also appreciated the opportunity to work alongside parents to come to a better understanding of each child and alongside colleagues as they sought to hone their teaching to ensure greater students success.
I often tell people that I have the best job in the world as I have the opportunity to influence the educational experience of every member of the community- students, faculty, parents. By being in classrooms or working alongside administrators, I am in a position to challenge and be challenged, ensuring focus is always kept on what is in the best interests of the children in our care.
Outside school, I enjoy yoga, visiting the theatre and traveling. I am fortunate to work at a school that has such a rich and diverse cocurricular arts program (who needs to pay for Broadway?!) I enjoy the movies and, for the last 3 years, I have been a 'beta- reader' for a series of young-adult fantasy novels written by a talented friend. Needless to say, reading is a favorite pastime and I enjoy sharing new discoveries with both students and friends. I am also a Harry Potter fan- I was sorted into Gryffindor House and like frozen butterbeer best.
